Ferndown Upper School extends a warm welcome to all students beginning their Year 9 education this September, and to their parents and carers. This page is intended to provide information on the period between receiving a placement for your child at FUS, and their first day as a student here.

In order to help the admissions and transfer process go smoothly, please ensure your contact details, addresses and details about your child are fully up to date, free of errors and formatted correctly. Please also ensure you/your child attends sessions on time and complete any necessary documentation before the deadline.

Transfer & Admissions Information Downloads

Please find below documentation which has been provided to all parents & carers of incoming students. This includes presentation slides from Information Evenings if you were unable to attend, and a copy of any letters or documents sent out via email. If you have not received these emails, please call the school to check the details that we hold for you.

Timeline of the Transfer Process

10th March 2027

Welcome / Transfer Information Evening for Parents of incoming Year 9 students.

15th March 2027

Deadline for parents & carers to accept their placement offer.

If the parent fails to accept the allocation within one week of this deadline, the offer will be withdrawn.

25th March 2027

You will be emailed an information booklet about parent-school systems, and our Online Admissions Form which must be completed as part of the process. If you need help to access or complete the form you must contact FUS promptly.

7th May 2027

Deadline for submitting the Online Admissions Form.

Mid-Late May 2027

Maths tests will be given at your child’s current school to determine their confidence and understanding, in order to place them in the correct class in Year 9.

1st Week June 2027

Pastoral Meetings take place at your child’s current school.

2nd Week June 2027

FUS Assemblies take place at middle schools.

3rd Week June 2027

Student Visits (SEND) (???)

24th June 2027

Transfer Evening – this is for parents & carers only, not the student. You will be able to talk to some of your child’s teachers and meet their tutor, and your child’s School House and tutor group will be confirmed.

25th June 2027

Transfer Day: 8:20am – 2:40pm.

Your child should wear their middle school uniform. You will need to arrange your child’s transport to and from school for Transfer Day.

2nd September 2027

First Day of Year 9 at Ferndown Upper School: 8:20am – 3:00pm
